This post is to provide notice to all of our clients and friends that there is a huge telephone scam going on across the country. Please share it with your friends.
Here is the set up: An automated voice calls you and says ” This is X from the IRS. The IRS is preparing to file a lawsuit against you for unpaid taxes if you do not call (253) 815-6940 right away.”
We have received several telephone calls from clients who have received this automated message.
When you call the telephone number, the person who answers tries to get you to wire money or send money via Western Union to them.
Don’t return the call and definitely DO NOT send them money. The IRS never calls someone to attempt to collect money. All IRS notices are by regular and/or certified mail.
Also, if you think you may owe money to the IRS, then directly contact the IRS by using the telephone numbers found on IRS Website Link
Hopefully this notice will save someone some drama and money.
